In memory of Elisabetta Caon

On 24 July 2023, Dr Elisabetta Caon suddenly passed away. Elisabetta was a student at the University of Padua, she studied Biotechnology at the Department of Biology and, with the support of her supervisor Prof. Sara De Martin of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, she had moved to London in 2018 to specialise in the study of liver diseases, publishing some important scientific works. A music lover, she studied classical guitar for many years and, together with three musician friends, formed the 'Sliwowitz Quartet', participating in various competitions both in Italy and abroad. She was strongly involved with the world of volunteering, supporting several communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the association 'Perchè no?' in Cittadella.
In order not to forget Elisabetta and to continue her research, the Departments of Biology and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences have decided to make available two ERASMUS scholarships at the same institution in London where she had just completed her PhD. The scholarships will be partly funded with PNRR funds of the University of Padua and will be available for the academic year 2024/25. To support the winning students, the two departments with the help of ARCS and the Accademia Filarmonica Veneta have launched this fundraising campaign to supplement the two scholarships.
